The holiday season is a time of giving, and at Pond Lehocky Giordano, our 25 Days of Giving campaign allows us to do just that—amplify the spirit of generosity and support the communities that inspire us daily. Each year, we partner with 25 incredible charitable organizations, extending our commitment to community engagement beyond the courtroom. For a full list of those organizations, check out our introductory blog for our 8th annual 25 Days of Giving. Today, we’re excited to shine a spotlight on the third group of five charities in this year’s campaign: Hope Walks, Empowering Cuts, Covenant House Pennsylvania, Beat the Streets Philadelphia, and Fundación Pro Ayuda de Puerto Rico.
These organizations represent a diverse array of missions, all tied together by their dedication to making the world a better place. Let’s explore the profound impact of their work.
1. Hope Walks: Transforming Lives One Step at a Time
For children born with clubfoot, a common congenital condition that can hinder mobility and quality of life, Hope Walks is a beacon of hope. Since its establishment in 2018, Hope Walks has empowered local healthcare professionals worldwide to provide free, high-quality treatment and holistic care to families affected by this treatable condition. Their innovative model focuses on training staff at national and faith-based hospitals to deliver sustainable care, ensuring that children can thrive physically, socially, and emotionally.
With a mission grounded in compassion and a vision to glorify God, Hope Walks has already impacted nearly 160,000 children’s lives. By addressing clubfoot before a child learns to walk, this organization eliminates disability and fosters independence, giving families the opportunity to flourish. Supporting Hope Walks means supporting a future where every child can walk with confidence and joy.
2. Empowering Cuts: Restoring Dignity Through Haircuts
Founded by Joshua Santiago in 2017, Empowering Cuts exemplifies how one person’s talent can spark profound change. Traveling across the country, Joshua provides free haircuts to individuals experiencing homelessness and other vulnerable populations. His mission is simple yet transformative: to restore dignity and self-confidence to those in dire need.
Empowering Cuts goes beyond haircuts; it builds connections and bridges empathy. With every snip of the scissors, this nonprofit reminds individuals that they are valued and seen. By supporting Empowering Cuts, we stand behind a movement that uplifts lives one haircut at a time, proving that small acts of kindness can make an enormous difference.
3. Covenant House Pennsylvania: A Lifeline for Vulnerable Youth
As the largest provider for homeless youth under 21 in Philadelphia, Covenant House Pennsylvania (CHPA) offers more than just shelter—it provides hope. Since its founding in 1999, CHPA has been a sanctuary for young people facing homelessness and survivors of trafficking. Their mission is rooted in five principles: immediacy, sanctuary, structure, value communication, and choice, creating a holistic approach to empowering youth.
CHPA’s comprehensive services include food, healthcare, education, and employment support, all aimed at fostering stability and independence. Operating 24/7, 365 days a year, CHPA’s dedication has transformed countless lives. In a city where poverty rates remain among the highest in the nation, Covenant House serves as a critical safety net and a source of inspiration.
4. Beat the Streets Philadelphia: Empowering Youth Through Wrestling
Beat the Streets Philadelphia (BTSP) is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering student-athletes from under-resourced communities through wrestling, mentoring, and academic support. Founded in 2009, BTSP operates on the belief that all children have the potential to succeed when given the proper tools and opportunities.
Wrestling serves as more than just a sport for BTSP—it’s a vehicle for personal growth, discipline, and resilience. By fostering holistic development, BTSP helps student-athletes positively alter their life trajectories. Supporting Beat the Streets means investing in the future of young people, equipping them with the skills and confidence needed to overcome adversity and achieve their goals.
5. Fundación Pro Ayuda de Puerto Rico: Advocating for Vulnerable Youth
Since 1989, Fundación Pro Ayuda de Puerto Rico (FPAPR) has been a steadfast advocate for abused, abandoned, and at-risk children and youth in Puerto Rico. Through its two homes, Hogar Cuna San Cristóbal and Hogar Santa María de los Ángeles, FPAPR provides a safe and nurturing environment for children in need.
The foundation’s work extends beyond housing—it includes abuse prevention campaigns, fundraising initiatives, and recreational activities that bring joy and stability to young lives. With the help of over 60 volunteers, FPAPR creates a supportive community where children can heal, grow, and thrive. By partnering with FPAPR, we contribute to a brighter future for Puerto Rico’s most vulnerable youth.
